Finalising the recruitment strategy

The final steps in the recruitment process include:

  • Complete Candidate Rating and Select Successful Candidate
  • Check References for the Successful Candidate
  • Make verbal employment offer to Successful Candidate.
  • Notify unsuccessful candidates – In Writing
  • Issue Employment Contract to new employee
  • Draw up Induction & Probation Procedures

Committing time and resources to develop a comprehensive effective recruitment strategy is a worthwhile investment. Poor recruitment choices such as poor person-job fit can have a range of undesirable consequences for your business and the employees themselves including:

  • Higher rates of turnover
  • Reduced performance effectiveness
  • Lowered job satisfaction
  • Reduced work motivation

Exercise:

- Draft a Job & Person Specification for a job-role relevant to your work

- Establish the Role Competencies & Devise Rating System – for each job-role interview candidate

- Jot down five (5) things that you’ve learned today and that stuck-out in your mind.
