Look

Look at the person who is talking to you to judge the intent as well as the content of what they are telling you

Ask questions

Where appropriate, ask relevant interested questions

Don’t interrupt

Always let the Interviewee complete their responses and give them time to formulate their ideas.

Don’t change the subject

At least not until you feel it is time to do so.

Emotions

Strive to listen objectively, rather than conceding to your prejudices

Respond

While listening always show some sign of understanding. Both verbal and non-verbal signs are valuable feedback
